Is your workplace too noisy? If you must raise your voice to speak to someone at arm’s length, then your workplace may be too noisy. The only way to determine your noise levels is to conduct a workplace noise assessment or noise survey. Hearing Protection Services have been conducting noise assessments Australia wide since 2008. We have the experience to accurately measure noise levels at your workplace, on plant, equipment and on individuals. We will then tell you exactly what you are required to do to be compliant. All this with no disruption to your day-to-day operations or productivity.
By using our service, you will have a full understanding of the noise generated in your workplace and how this effects your employees. As each workplace is different, we tailor the noise assessment to suit your environment. We will advise you on the most cost-effective noise measurement option for your workplace. Safe Work Australia have developed a Noise Hazard Identification Checklist which can be found in the Managing Noise and Preventing Hearing Loss at Work Code of Practice, or by clicking this image.
The noise assessments are conducted either statically with the use of a handheld sound level meter, or both statically and with the addition of dosimeter that is fitted to the employee. The dosimetric results will give a true measure of individual noise exposure with a graphical time history representation of their noise exposure, capturing both noisy and quiet times of the employee’s workday.
After all site information and noise measurements are taken, we then analyse the results. From here the noise assessment report is generated. This detailed report will identify any noisy equipment, noisy workstations, and noisy areas at your workplace. We will highlight areas where there is excessive noise and implement the hierarchy of noise control to ensure employees are not being injured in your workplace. As an immediate action either administrative controls or hearing protection for employees may be recommended. If this if the case we will identify the safe exposure time in the noisy areas, identify areas where hearing protection is required, suggest suitable locations for signage placement, and advise on the correct class of hearing protection. Once you have read over the report and digested the information, we then arrange a time to review the results and answer any questions you may have.
All noise measurements and reporting are conducted by trained, university qualified assessors.
